Head of Communications, Sydney (AU)
Shortlisting
The Company
Join a leading global organisation operating at the forefront of sustainable infrastructure and construction, with Australia representing one of its most significant markets globally. With strong global direction and an established communications framework, this is an opportunity to take ownership of the ANZ delivery agenda, working closely with local stakeholders and global colleagues.
The Role
We are seeking an accomplished Head of Communications to lead the ANZ communications agenda across internal and external communications, public relations, corporate affairs and crisis management. Working closely with the leaders and key stakeholders, the position will localise and deliver high-quality global content and campaigns, manage the local narrative, support executive communications and lead the response to sensitive issues, while being very much a hands-on operator rather than simply managing through others. The role will lead a team of two, including an experienced direct report, and work closely with global colleagues to deliver the global communications strategy across ANZ.
The Individual
We are looking for a communications professional with around 7-10 years' experience in a complex manufacturing environment, ideally within a multinational organisation. You will be a confident writer and communicator who is comfortable rolling up your sleeves, creating and adapting content, advising senior stakeholders and managing issues directly. Strong judgement, composure under pressure, commercial curiosity and the ability to influence across a broad stakeholder group will be essential, along with the maturity to know when to lead locally and when to work within global parameters.
Potential Upsides
This could suit someone with experience in partnering with leaders, sustainability and global communications, with the opportunity to step up into a leadership position. You will have a seat at the table within the broader People function and the opportunity to learn and grow within a global organisation where ANZ is an important market.
Potential Challenges
The role operates within a strongly governed global communications framework, so success will come from influencing, localising and executing exceptionally well rather than creating an entirely independent communications strategy or brand. There will be moments requiring calm and decisive action, particularly around crisis and reputation management, while balancing global direction with effective, hands-on delivery across the region.
