Hong Kong Head of Human Resources, Hong Kong (HK)
Shortlisting
The Company
We are partnering with a leading international organisation operating in a highly labour-intensive industry, with a significant workforce and complex operational environment in Hong Kong. The business is continuing to evolve its people infrastructure and is looking for a senior HR leader to build a modern, scalable HR function that can support the organisation’s next phase of growth.
The Role
The Head of HR, Hong Kong is a pivotal leadership role with responsibility for the full HR agenda across a workforce of approximately 2,000 employees. The successful candidate will be tasked with building and strengthening the HR function from the ground up, establishing the infrastructure, governance, and capabilities required to support a complex and operationally intensive business. This is a broad and highly influential role, requiring the ability to move seamlessly between strategy and execution. The incumbent will partner closely with senior business leadership to shape the organisation’s people strategy while ensuring strong operational HR delivery across the workforce.
The Individual
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned HR leader with experience operating in large, complex and labour-intensive environments. They will combine a genuinely strategic and visionary mindset with strong operational discipline and a proven ability to turn strategy into execution. The successful candidate will be highly articulate, commercially astute, and able to communicate with clarity and conviction across all levels of the organisation. They should have a track record of building HR functions, developing scalable people infrastructure, and elevating HR from a largely operational function into a strategic business partner. Strong stakeholder management, organisational leadership, and execution capability will be essential. This is best suited to an HR leader who enjoys building, has a clear point of view on the future of HR, and is equally comfortable getting into the detail to ensure operational excellence.
Potential Upsides
A rare opportunity to build and shape the HR function for a workforce of approximately 2,000 employees. Significant scope to establish the people agenda, influence senior leadership, and create a modern HR platform with long-term organisational impact.
Potential Challenges
A large and operationally intensive workforce creates significant complexity and requires strong execution discipline. The successful candidate will need to balance a long-term transformation agenda with the demands of day-to-day HR operations and deliver tangible progress in an environment where the HR infrastructure is still being built.
