We are representing a major player in the global natural resources sector, known for its strong operational footprint and commitment to excellence in complex industrial environments. The organization is undergoing continued transformation, with a focus on modernizing its people agenda while maintaining operational integrity across its global operations. With a workforce numbering in the thousands, and a significant presence across South America, the company remains committed to building a culture rooted in safety, transparency, and high performance.
The Lead, Employee and Industrial Relations, South America is a newly created position that plays a key role within the global ER/IR leadership team. Reporting to the Global Head of ER/IR and working in close partnership with regional HR, this role will drive the development and implementation of the ER/IR strategy across a diverse and highly unionized footprint in South America. It will serve as a trusted advisor on workforce relations, collective bargaining, organizational change, and labor risk, with direct exposure to senior leadership across the business. The role involves navigating complex stakeholder landscapes, contributing to cultural evolution, and supporting long-term operational stability. Operating in a matrixed environment, the individual will collaborate across functions and geographies, balancing alignment with global frameworks and responsiveness to local needs. Based in South America, preferably in Chile or Argentina, the position requires regular regional travel. This is a rare opportunity to shape the ER/IR agenda for a critical region and influence outcomes at scale in a values-driven, globally integrated organization.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in employee and industrial relations across South America, with a proven track record navigating union-heavy, highly regulated environments. They demonstrate a pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset and the ability to translate complex labor legislation into business-aligned strategies. Strong influencing skills, executive presence, and commercial acumen are essential, as is the ability to operate independently while collaborating effectively within a global matrix. Experience delivering high-impact ER/IR initiatives, including collective bargaining, policy development, and case resolutions. A background in multinational, complex organizations is critical, along with the agility to manage ambiguity and shifting priorities. Fluency in Spanish and English is required; Portuguese is a plus. A degree in ER and IR, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
