Country HR Business Lead, Tokyo (JP)
Completed
The Company
Our client is a very famous luxury cosmetics manufacturer with operations in over 25 countries. This company has only been in existence for a few decades but is growing rapidly and competing with many of the major players in the industry thanks to their science-based, natural products which is very popular in Japan as well as globally. In addition, they have an extremely strong E-commerce presence. Due to these factors, even during the current environment with COVID-19 their business has been growing rapidly.
The Role
As the Country HR Business Lead you will be responsible for a small team of HR professionals and an employee population of roughly 300~400 and growing. You will report into the APAC HR Director and will work closely with them to upgrade the HR systems and grow the team locally to become a fully functioning partner to the business. Your major challenges will be to introduce the latest HR models for further growth during a strong period of expansion for the company whilst simultaneously fulfilling operational matters. The eventual goal will be to have an HR organisation that is not administrative but a trusted partner to the business that can provide value and continued growth to the business.
The Individual
The ideal candidate should come from a large organisation with at least 10 years of experience as an HRBP or generalist, strong in OD and TM. You should have experience managing teams of at least five people. Ideally with a keen understanding of the retail market, especially in regard to compensation and rewards of store staff would be a huge plus. Solid business level English is required for this opportunity.
Potential Challenges
As growth is extremely high, there will be many aspects of the role that are also quite hands-on and ambiguous. This is not an opportunity for someone who likes a very structured role and environment.
