Head of Talent Acquisition, Melbourne (AU)

Shortlisting

The Company

A multinational organisation operating within a digitally enabled and fast-moving sector. The business is in the midst of significant internal evolution, with strong investment being directed toward capability uplift, technology adoption and more integrated ways of working across its workforce. A key focus is strengthening how talent is identified, attracted and built to support future organisational priorities.

The Role

The Head of Talent Acquisition is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing a broad and strategically important hiring remit spanning technical, product and corporate capability areas. The role will lead the design and execution of hiring approaches across a highly specialised environment, with a clear mandate to improve consistency, speed and quality of appointments. A central focus will be moving the organisation toward earlier workforce planning, stronger internal capability, and reduced reliance on external sourcing partners. Working closely with senior leaders, this position will play a key role in shaping how hiring demand is defined, challenged and delivered. It will also help embed more modern, data informed approaches to selection and introduce greater use of emerging digital tools to improve recruitment effectiveness. The role leads a dispersed team and requires a balance of leadership and direct involvement in select senior appointments.

The Individual

The ideal individual will be an experienced talent acquisition leader who has operated in complex, technology led organisations. They will have a strong record of delivering high quality hiring outcomes at volume, and of building internal capability that reduces dependency on external providers. They will be comfortable engaging with senior executives and influencing decision making beyond immediate hiring needs, contributing to broader workforce and capability discussions. Experience with modern recruitment technologies and data led decision making will be important, particularly in environments where efficiency and scalability are key priorities. The successful individual will have led teams geographically dispersed and will be equally comfortable operating at both strategic and hands on levels. A strong commercial mindset, coupled with the ability to operate in evolving and sometimes ambiguous environments, will be essential.

Potential Upsides

An opportunity to step into a highly visible leadership role within a business undergoing meaningful change. The position offers the chance to shape how a large organisation approaches hiring and the use of new technology in talent attraction practices.

Potential Challenges

The environment is complex, fast moving and involves a broad range of stakeholders with differing priorities. Success will require strong influencing skills, resilience and the ability to introduce new ways of working while maintaining delivery in a demanding operational setting.
