Interviewing
The Company
ChapmanCG is partnering with a client which manufactures and distributes a wide spectrum of solutions for distributors, retailers, and consumers. A leader in its niche field and a premium brand known for quality, this business combines deep consumer insights with fast and flexible production capabilities. This fast-growing business is headquartered in New Jersey and operates across North America, Asia and Europe. The company is privately held and boasts an experienced and hands-on leadership team.
The Role
This is a newly created role necessitated by company growth. It will partner closely with the CHRO and the Executive Leadership Team to develop the people strategy with a focus on upskilling within the commercial and enabling functions. Key responsibilities include leading and executing strategic HR initiatives; building and fostering a high-performance culture; leading continuous improvement efforts in HR processes; overseeing employee relations strategies to ensure a highly desirable work environment; promoting and implementing talent management programs that support employee growth; providing counsel and leadership during M&A activities; and driving and implementing standardized but market relevant HR policies and procedures. This is a hybrid position (three days/week in office) with frequent travel.
The Individual
This position requires a strategic but hands-on individual who is an expert in the commercial/sales space within manufacturing environments. He or she should have 15+ years of HR experience within manufacturing with at least 6 years spent managing others. In addition, potential candidates should have strengths in talent management, employee relations, and employee engagement. This individual would have a large company background (so they “know what great looks like”), plus ideally some additional experience gained within smaller, agile environments. We are looking for a data-driven individual who analyzes trends to help guide decision making and knowledge of the key concepts of change management, including implementation of those concepts in a variety of settings including M&A integration. Robust facilitation/training skills would be highly beneficial.
Potential Upsides
There is heavy senior leadership exposure and a great chance to make an impact. Also, this CHRO is world-class and an excellent mentor and coach. An attractive career development opportunity!
Potential Challenges
This is a $1B business looking to grow quickly to $2B. The team is lean and this role requires a thorough, detailed, and hands-on style. It will also require frequent travel. The nature of this position will not appeal to all.
