Which organisations or industries have the best quality HR practices in the region? I'm tired of my company not investing in HR and I want to find somewhere that takes HR seriously.
Answer:: It is difficult to generalise, however companies in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods sector, Pharmaceuticals sector, and even some of the larger Industrial/Diversified multinationals are generally said to have top class HR practices across the Asia Pacific Japan region. A number of the foreign Banks and Technology organisations also have excellent HR platforms. The challenge when assessing a company's HR capabilities at a regional or local level across Asia Pacific Japan is that they may differ from a company's global reputation. A global brand is not always an indication of strong local HR practices. For example, what works well in the United States may be the complete opposite in Japan. The other challenge is that sometimes a Regional or Global HR Leader can make an otherwise mediocre company into an exceptional HR organisation. These companies are hidden gems and can be difficult to spot from the outside.
