- How do you move from an agency recruitment role to an in-house role?
- Answer:
Strong economic performance across the Asia Pacific Japan region has caused a boom in hiring for most companies in recent times. HR has needed to beef up their Recruitment capabilities to keep up with this trend, and this has resulted in more opportunities for in-house Recruitment professionals. In the past two years, a shortage of experienced in-house candidates has seen multinationals hiring exceptional recruiters straight from agency/search environments. Many of these Recruiters have joined industries and functions that closely resemble their search experience. For example, an agency/search recruiter who specialises in IT roles should target Technology companies or the technology departments of Banks. In gloomier economic times, companies tend to be more choosy when hiring in-house recruiters, and often opt for candidates performing similar roles at industry competitors. However opportunities will still exist for agency recruiters to make the change, especially for the most consultative in-house roles.
