I am hearing about the emergence of ‘mega' regions for the coverage of HR in Asia Pacific and beyond. What does this mean?
Answer:
With many companies being cost and efficiency focused in recent years, we have seen some organisations move to regional structures which are broader than Asia. Some of these include ‘Americasia" (US, Asia, Latin America), ‘CEMA' (Central Europe, Middle East, Africa and even Asia) and various other. These companies are eliminating unnecessary regional structures and moving to move business line oriented HR business partnership and reporting. Such structures put a greater emphasis on competent business partners and less of an emphasis on regional support functions.
