GUEST EXPERT - Effendi Ibnoe: How would you describe the distinctive characteristics of HR in financial services in Indonesia?
Answer:

Effendi Ibnoe
Head of HR, Indonesia
Standard Chartered Bank
Based in Jakarta

The distinctive characteristics of HR in the Financial Services in Indonesia are similar to anywhere else in the region. First and foremost, HR leaders should know more on the bankers' competency model, and thus know where the talents are in the country. It's also important to know what it takes to engage and keep on motivating bankers, especially front-end positions such as Relationship Managers.

Especially in this time of turbulence, employee engagement and retention are key priorities. These can be achieved through close and effective manager-employee relationships, continuous and targeted Training & Development programmes and, in some instances, special retention programmes.
