VIEWER QUESTION – I notice that you have been searching for a number of HR Shared Services positions lately in Singapore. Is the popularity of this specialisation increasing?
Answer:
We have been fortunate to have been involved in four separate HR Shared Services searches in the last two months – two in Banking, one in Life Sciences and one in the Industrial sector. To some extent, the popularity of HR shared services set-ups is growing as many organisations are on quest for maximum efficiency and cost reduction. That said, the establishment of an HR shared services function can involve a high up-front cost which may take years to be reclaimed and could also involve initial inefficiencies as existing practices and processes switch over. With this latter point in mind, some mid-sized organisations that were planning to implement an HR shared services set-up have delayed their plans until economic times improve and the up-front investment can be justified.
