India

- India’s home-grown HR talent represents some of the best educated in the region, with the cream of the crop having graduated from the country’s well known HR masters degree programmes. The most internationally-minded HR talent are often groomed by their multinational employers into becoming regional or even global HR Heads. Many succeed in transitioning into senior regional HR roles in Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai in particular, as well as global HR roles in Europe and North America.
- The growth in the number and size of Indian domestic multinational companies has seen the opening up of some very large, domestic HR roles. Due to the India's strategic location between Europe and the Far East, we have also occasionally seen companies migrate major regional and global HR roles into India, particularly in the fields of HR Operations and HR Information Systems.
- Regional roles based in India tend to oversee the neighbouring countries of South Asia such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Few multinationals have located their entire Asia Pacific Japan headquarters in India, preferring to stick to Singapore, Hong Kong or China.
- The profession has developed from being largely focused on Industrial Relations in Manufacturing in the past, to now offering various career paths in HR Generalist work, Recruitment or Organisational Development, particularly within the country’s booming Technology clusters. With key economic centres in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai, top HR talent is widespread across the sub-continent.
