Taiwan

- Taiwan’s economy is based principally around the Technology and Semiconductor industries, with Financial Services, Professional Services, Pharmaceutical and FMCG industries also represented.
- Internationally-minded HR talent from Taiwan tends to be well regarded on the regional stage, and top talent will often be sent on regional or international assignments. Like other countries in region, however, there is a large base of Operationally-minded HR talent in Taiwan, so those who can easily adapt to more sophisticated international HR standards do stand out from the crowd.
- Generally speaking, English language skills are not as high in Taiwan as in some other parts of Asia, which can act as a limitation to basing regional HR roles out of the country. Many HR Directors in Taiwan therefore report into Mandarin-speaking HR heads based either in sub-regional headquarters in China or regional headquarters in Singapore or Hong Kong.
