Japan HR Country Manager: Manufacturing (1242/TCCG)

Location: Japan
Type: Permanent
Posted: 26.01.12

The Company

We are working with a US based manufacturing company to source their new Japan Country HR Manager. With approximately 200 full-time employees and around 150 contractors, this is a medium-sized organisation with a headquarter office in Tachikawa (West Tokyo) and a factory elsewhere in Japan. The company has had a long and stable background in Japan, and will be continuing to consolidate it’s presence in the coming months and years ahead.

The Role

The company has been upgrading and expanding the HR function over the past few years, and there is a strong impetus to continue with this development. Therefore you will need to be comfortable to help out with Japan HR conditions ‘on the ground’ while also be working closely in alignment with the regional HR Leader in matters such as HR systems, Performance Management and Compensation/Grading. The role will include frequent travel to the company’s plant in Gunma-ken.

The Individual

The ideal candidate would have spent some time in the manufacturing world, so that they can be comfortable in working in a predominantly blue collar environment. The Japan CEO is a non-Japanese, however they speak native-level Japanese, so while English language skills are important in communicating regionally and globally, they will not be used on a day to day basis.
